SAN FRANCISCO — Sept. 17, 2018 — The Chan Zuckerberg Biohub (CZ Biohub), a nonprofit medical research organization, has hired prominent litigation attorney and law firm leader Maureen Sheehy as general counsel.

Sheehy served in a variety of leadership roles, most recently as San Francisco office managing partner, at Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton LLP (formerly Townsend and Townsend and Crew), a global law firm specializing in intellectual property, corporate law and litigation. As firm chair, she negotiated and oversaw the 2011 merger of Townsend and Townsend and Crew with Kilpatrick Stockton and has overseen operational initiatives that include developing an innovative talent model and implementing an award-winning corporate citizenship program. Sheehy has had an active pro bono practice, aimed at meeting the needs of underserved communities.
A graduate of the University of Chicago Law School in Chicago, Illinois, Sheehy has more than 20 years of litigation experience at the state and federal level. She has litigated complex antitrust, IP, and transactional disputes, and advised clients on internal investigations as well as legal and regulatory compliance.
Sheehy serves on the board of directors and executive committee for the East Bay Community Law Center in Berkeley, California, the largest legal aid provider in Alameda County and sits on the steering committee for Equal Rights Advocates.
