    Marc Malandro

    Director, Chair of the Board & Executive Director

    Marc Malandro serves as our chair of the board and executive director. Marc is also the chief operating officer of the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative. He started at CZI as vice president for science operations, a role in which he helped build the science programs and team. Before coming to CZI, he served at the University of Pittsburgh as Vice Chancellor for Technology Management and Commercialization and Founding Director of the Innovation Institute, whose mission was to create, support, and sustain a culture of innovation, entrepreneurship, and collaboration on campus. Prior to joining the University of Pittsburgh, Malandro co-founded Sagres Discovery, a systems-biology company focused on understanding the molecular basis of cancer. Malandro received his B.S. and M.S. in Biological Sciences and D.Sc. from Youngstown State University and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Florida College of Medicine.

    Director

    Paul graduated from the University of Portland with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. He is a licensed CPA in both Oregon and California. He has worked in the accounting industry for over 40 years. Paul has worked in both public accounting and private industry, spending 14 years as a tax partner with Moss Adams LLP. Currently, Paul is a partner at Apercen Partners LLC, a tax advisory firm, and focuses on charitable issues for their clients.

  • Jassi Pannu

    Jassi Pannu

    Jassi Pannu is an Assistant Professor at the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health and a Senior Scholar at the Center for Health Security, an internationally recognized center that investigates how policy approaches, scientific advances, and technological innovations can strengthen health security. At the Center, she leads pioneering policy research and technology development at the intersection of artificial intelligence and biosecurity, including novel methods for safety testing of biological AI models. Her research and writing have been published by <em>Science</em>, <em>Nature</em>, the <em>New York Times</em>, and <em>RAND</em>, among others. Pannu is a board-certified physician who completed her medical training, residency, and health policy subspecialty fellowship at Stanford University. Her international frontline clinical work informs her deep commitment to advancing technology and policy approaches to prevent, detect, and treat disease worldwide. Pannu has served as a subject-matter expert for Google, the Frontier Model Forum, the National Academies of Sciences, the Bipartisan Commission on Biodefense, and regularly briefs officials on emerging biotechnologies with security implications. She serves on the board of Blueprint Biosecurity, a nonprofit dedicated to achieving breakthroughs in humanity’s ability to prevent pandemics.

  • Ben Roh

    Ben Roh

    Director, Treasurer & Chief Financial Officer

    Ben Roh serves as our chief financial officer, where he oversees financial operations. He also serves as CFO at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative. Roh was previously the CFO/COO at Gradient Learning, and before that, he held leadership roles at various tech companies ranging from early-stage to Fortune 100 organizations. Roh received his undergraduate degree in business from the University of Washington.

  • Sandy Yao

    Sandy Yao

    Director, Secretary & Chief Legal Officer

    Sandy Yao serves as our chief legal officer, overseeing the legal function supporting Biohub and all of its regional institutions. Along with a science background, Yao brings a wide range of legal and business expertise in intellectual property, licensing, technology transactions, and data privacy to support the scientific work across the Biohub. Yao started at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI) in 2021 and also currently serves as a vice president, AI, IP and Technology, heading the legal and policy work supporting AI, technology and science. Prior to joining CZI, Yao worked at LinkedIn as well as the law firm Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati. Yao received her undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering from Tsinghua University, her Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from MIT, and her law degree from Stanford Law School. She is a co-inventor of patents on high-resolution optical imaging technology using quantum dots.

These individuals serve as the Board of Directors and officers of Chan Zuckerberg Biohub, Inc., a 501(c)(3) medical research organization.

You will drive initiatives that improve how internal teams access, use, and scale compute and platform resources — including onboarding and offboarding workflows, access management systems, and infrastructure programs that support efficient, secure, and impactful research and development across the organization.
